<span style="color: rgb(33, 37, 41); font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 14.4px; background-color: rgb(249, 249, 249);">Shrapnel damage in left cockpit area, rt engine, 37MM AAA about 79 m/h (est), no data on when completed. The Cajuns' Col. Bob Efferson brings his battle-damaged Hog home with more than 375 holes in it. Col. Efferson was leading a four-ship out of Al Jouf on an orientation / Scud-hunting mission. They first bombed bunkers and trucks at the “Home Depot” weapons-storage facility with Mk-82 bombs. The flight then proceeded to an intersection in Scud Alley where Col Efferson made a low level recce pass. At 11,000 feet, his aircraft was hit by a 4-round burst of 57mm AA. Shrapnel fragments cooked off one of his AIM-9s, causing it to fire. Two rounds exploded behind the aircraft, hitting the tail feathers and right engine. The third exploded under the right wing; the fourth hit in the aircraft's nose causing seventeen major holes and leaving chinks in the titanium “bathtub” armor around the cockpit. Col. Efferson climbed the aircraft out of the target area and proceeded to KKMC. The aircraft's flaps and speed brakes were inoperative. On landing, the left main gear tire blew out, causing the aircraft to roll off the runway into the desert.</span><br style="box-sizing: border-box; color: rgb(33, 37, 41); font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 14.4px; background-color: rgb(249, 249, 249);"><span style="color: rgb(33, 37, 41); font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 14.4px; background-color: rgb(249, 249, 249);">The aircraft suffered damage to its vertical and horizontal tail surfaces, both wings, and left engine cowling.
