Major damage. Required right outer wing change. Capt. Johnson was a flight leader of a two aircraft section attacking a SAM site. As he called to his wingman that he was rolling into attack with Mk-82 bombs, his wingman replied “blind,” indicating he had lost sight of him. Capt. Johnson did not hear the radio call but proceeded with the attack without cover. An infrared missile then impacted the right wing. The aircraft rolled hard to the right, and the right engine ingested large amounts of debris. Capt. Johnson managed to regain control of the aircraft and then regain partial use of his damaged engine. Due to damaged flight control systems, Capt. Johnson used manual reversion and flew his damaged Hog back home. </div><div><span style="color: rgb(33, 37, 41); font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 14.4px; background-color: rgb(249, 249, 249);">Event No.: F-24</span></div>
